IMAGINING BETTER

PLA 12.12.3 - 6 Bedford Street Feb 1960.jpg

I worked with Remembering the Past to develop an Audience Development Plan which met the needs of the charity, which relies on volunteer support for much of its work. I collaborated closely with the Director to understand the strategic aims of the organisation and ensure the plan dovetailed with the Business Plan and long term vision of the Board. I also consulted with volunteers to ensure I understood their priorities and ideas. This enabled the creation of a flexible working document which provides a roadmap for activity over the next three years.

I have worked with Remembering the Past, Resourcing the Future over a number of years, building a strong working relationship as the organisation changes and develops. This has included:

  • Research and development in support of an NLHF bid

  • The creation of an Audience Development Plan for the organisation

  • The development and delivery of a project as part of North Shields 800 (Read: Communities page)

I have extensive experience of working with historic churches to develop funding applications and activity programmes. Having acted as coordinator for the Repair Grants for Places of Worship in Scotland when working at NLHF, I went on to Project Manage Rural Churches for Everyone, an NLHF funded project delivered by the Church of England, Newcastle Diocese.

Other clients include

  • Northern Print (Volunteer Coordinator)

  • Church of Our Lady Seaton Delaval (activities project development).

rural churches for everyone

Working alongside Philippa during the Rural Churches for Everyone Project was a game-changer: she’s an excellent communicator, and a real collaborator. I was confident that she had anticipated all the details and that I could rely on her to think considerately about our clients’ needs and make any necessary adjustments. She was knowledgeable, reflective and skilled, and good fun to work with too. I’d welcome the chance to work with her again.

– Yvonne Conchie, Consultant

RCfE worked with 35 churches in deep rural Northumberland to develop collaborative Sustainability Plans to secure sustainable futures for church buildings. I was responsible for all elements of managing the project in order to deliver the expected outcomes and approved purposes agreed by the funder, National Lottery Heritage Fund. This included devising and delivering the programme of workshops and training for the project; supporting a diverse and disparate group of volunteers across 35 churches to participate and develop their own plans for their churches, taking a bottom-up, community development inspired approach; working with a number of community development and heritage partners to build networks and support the churches; budget and risk management; reporting to the Project Board, Steering Group and funder; and coordinating the monitoring and evaluation for the project.
