Testimonals

Working alongside Philippa during the Rural Churches for Everyone Project was a game-changer: she’s an excellent communicator, and a real collaborator. I was confident that she had anticipated all the details and that I could rely on her to think considerately about our clients’ needs and make any necessary adjustments. She was knowledgeable, reflective and skilled, and good fun to work with too. I’d welcome the chance to work with her again.

– Yvonne Conchie, Consultant

We worked with Philippa on our activity plan for our national lottery funded scheme in 2023-24. She was a very positive addition to our team, an approachable ambassador to our partners and volunteers, with a proactive approach to problem solving, organised and reliable throughout. We hope to work with Philippa again in the future.

– Judith Miller, Senior Conservation Officer, Sunderland City Council.

As part of a recent organisational review, Remembering The Past commissioned Philippa to undertake a programme of research for us and advise on our strategic development. She produced two comprehensive and clearly written reports with recommendations that challenged our assumptions and brought us fresh perspectives and ideas for our future direction.  Philippa would be a strength to any project, she has a broad knowledge of the heritage sector, understands the local government context and the current funding environment and is experienced in place-based heritage and community work. We would be very happy to work with her again.

– Alexandra Watson, Development Manager

Philippa is extremely good to work with: always prompt, precise and personable. Philippa joined a project I was sponsoring at a tricky stage when work had fallen behind schedule due to the pandemic and changes in personnel. Philippa quickly became instrumental in building good working relationships with partners, colleagues and participants in the project, and there was soon a real sense of energy and optimism flowing once again. Philippa was a valued colleague, greatly missed from my team, and I commend her work to you wholeheartedly.

– The Venerable Dr Catherine Sorbet-Groves, Archdeacon of Lindisfarne

“Philippa has been an invaluable part of the development and implementation of the Mowbray Park Community Garden. As the project's evaluator, she worked closely with our team to help us not only meet our outcomes but also to clearly evidence the impact of our work.

What truly sets Philippa apart is her ability to see and articulate the bigger picture. She has a deep understanding of the social and emotional benefits that a project like this brings to the community. Her insight, professionalism, and thoughtful approach have made a real difference—not just to our evaluation process, but to the spirit and purpose of the garden itself”

Jennie Morris  Community Garden Engagement Officer, Sunderland City Council

In 2025 Sunderland City Council - Museum and Heritage Service commissioned the services of Philippa Carter Heritage to undertake evaluation work associated with two externally funded projects.  Philippa was very accommodating, and exceptionally organised throughout both commissions and she worked to exceptionally tight deadlines.  The projects involved interviewing participants from senior managers, partners and stakeholders to staff and volunteers which she did with sensitivity and much professionalism.  We are planning to work with Philippa again on another commission and would have no hesitation in recommending her to other organisations.
